Communist Party of India Member of Legislative Assembly Sushanta Ghosh, who is facing a trial in connection with the recovery of skeletons near his ancestral house at Benachapra, was injured when a man beat him up with a shoe at a local court in Medinipur on Tuesday. The man ran towards him from a slogan shouting crowd near the court and beat up Ghosh with a shoe, when the Garbeta MLA reported to the Fourth Additional Session Judge Avijit Som to meet the bail condition.

The Criminal Investigation Department on Saturday hinted that former Communist Party of India - Marxist minister Sushanta Ghosh could be subjected to a lie detector test, as an unspecified number of cartridges were seized during a search of his three residences in West Midnapore district and Kolkata on Saturday."We might go for a polygraph test of Ghosh if needed," a senior officer of CID said. Ghosh, the sitting legislator of Garbeta, was arrested on August 11.
The Criminal Investigation Department on Friday filed a charge-sheet at a Midnapore court against 58 accused, including jailed former West Bengal minister Sushanta Ghosh, in the Garbeta skeleton recovery case.
